3 May 2016: Ranch time!

Today we had to only ride about 65 km’s to our hosts ranch. So we decided to head into Williams Lake town centre to take care of some laundry. Our clothes were getting kind of stinky, and they could almost stand up on their own!

At the laundromat we met a lovely lady and her little girls. Hello to you all! We had a lovely chat about our trip It’s amazing to us how many people find our new way of life so incredible. To us it’s just something we are doing. It’s very easy for us to forget that we are fortunate enough to be able to do something such as this trip and it is always a great grounding moment when we see the excitement on someone else’s face when we talk about what we are doing.

After our clothes came out smelling weirdly clean we rode a little ways up the highway and turned off for Horsefly. What a cool name for a town! It was an easy ride out there and once we got to the town we decided to have a little bit of lunch in the sun next to the river. We both sat on a rock and just soaked up the beautiful suns rays. What a gorgeous day!

From there it was about 5km to our new found friends house. We were so excited to stay on a ranch!

Frans and Silvia were amazing hosts! They currently have a guy from Switzerland, Stefan, working for them and he is also a super guy. We enjoyed a few beers outside with them before embarking on a tour of their incredibly beautiful property.

Frans and Silvia have done an amazing job of building Sunshine Ranch up to what it is today. Chantelle and I were both so impressed with the quality of workmanship and attention to detail they have put into the place!

It's no wonder they constantly have weddings booked for out there.

We also saw our first hummingbirds! What cool little things! Very hard to take photos of though!

After our tour it was time for dinner. We had some delicious perfectly cooked steak, and the ever welcome fresh made salad and homemade bread! So lovely! All washed down with some red wine. Pretty damn good!

Then after a nice chat we were all yawning in the lounge and it was time to go to bed.

Tomorrow we shall head the back way from Horsefly to Likely and then to Barkerville, also via the back roads.
